Symbol of Guidance and Hope

“Saint Mary, give us the anchor of confidence amidst all the storms of life and lead us safely home.”

Stella Maris is bronze depiction of Saint Mary Star of the Sea. She stands 6’ on a 2’ bronze sphere of water, with a brass halo, stainless steel star, mast topped with a bronze Holy Spirit flame, framed with 2 copper sails, and standing on a base the shape of the basilica ceiling motifs, measuring a total of 13’.

Stella Maris is situated on a concrete compass rose with a true north. She is facing west with the sun rising behind as a symbol of the resurrection, the risen Christ.

She looks towards west with the sunsetting as a sign of unwavering hope. The sails are full, alluding to the Holy Spirit with the boat, a symbol of humanity in a forward motion. Her eyes gleaming with conviction and faith that good and truth will always prevail because of divine love.

She guides us, leading by her example of grace. She is a beacon of Hope and Guidance.
